| Canterbury: A “bombshell” report is expected to be delivered to bishops attending the 14th Lambeth Conference on July 28 that is expected to call for the Episcopal Church to abandon its push for gay bishops and blessings.
The request is expected to come in the third presentation of the Windsor Continuation Group (WCG) to the bishops at Lambeth and follows a call for the creation of an Anglican Holy Office to police the boundaries of the faith. Backed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Anglican “Faith and Order Commission” will be a fifth instrument of unity for the Anglican Communion. Read it all in The Church of England Newspaper. |

George,
I became aware of this before retiring last night. I can see where an Anglican Inquisition might appeal to some, but who do they suppose will be the Grand Inquisitor? Adding still another “Instrument of Unity” is redundant and makes me think of death by a thousand cuts. The audacity of wanting to call such a thing the Anglican Holy Office is nothing short of blasphemous. It flies in the face of the Great doxology which states “For Thou only art holy…”. The only instruments of unity which I recognize are the Bible, the 1662 BCP and the Articles of Religion, these together with the Homilies are what our forebears left us. The very thought that some are desiring an Inquisition tells me that they know precious little about both the English Reformation and the History of the Church. It took the Act of Uniformity to drive the Puritans from the Church of England during the reign of Elizabeth I. Now during the reign of Elizabeth II, who will this new Act of Unity drive out? The revisionists? Don’t be holding your breath! No, as far as I’m concerned they can take this new instrument of uniformity and put it where Paddy put the shilling. As For Me and My House, We Will Serve the Lord.
